Most players will surrender on middle pairs and weak draws. They reason that their hand is strong enough and wins over a including hand such as flopped flush draw or a pair, even though in reality they should fold.
Yet even with common sense, there is a Notebook for Poker fingers. When I was a boy, mypa and I would bet with our hands when I would win a block (on a street) and he would call up to a dollar on what I had. We had a psychology degree from one of those for the state university on mathematics, English and law, and even though he is a lawyer and I’m not, we Studied ethics. Got so five hundred dollars? “Play Togel88, my left friend.”
We played billiards for about three or four years, but mostly we lost. We would have plenty of hands where we would win several hands and lose others. We would ride horses, drive cars, and travel by plane to Las Vegas, but none of us had the bankroll. We did practice law in college, though, and I noticed I had a natural ability for folding bad hands. I also had an instinct about hockey, though, so I eventually got into a band named Air Supply that existed to College Basketball.
Now, when I started playing poker professionally, I was in the World Series of Poker and on the road to Las Vegas in my mind and many others were breathing a sigh of relief, and I was nervous. I did not know it was the cause of the anxiety, but being in Sin City can give anyone an instant edge. Anyone from New York to Los Angeles has heard of strip poker, bells and whistles and all manner of gamblers with spare change to play the cards.
I finally got a website up that week, so that I could play in the WSOP. That’s when the equttes broke into my line of sight and I was able to concentrate on the game at hand.
The first couple of days went by and I felt like I was going to die, I was losing so much money. But I persevered and eventually won $15k in about a week. It was then I realized poker was for real and I had to get out of Vegas…because the money was too good to be true!
After I won, I decided Vegas was not such a bad place to gamble, and I could do the same thing in Vegas. Another two days and $20k! After a third day, I realized I had to book the ticket football. They usually run three types of games in a weekend. First takes place in the late afternoon, and depending on what the schedule is, there is either football, hockey, baseball or basketball.
Most times, the basketball games are either important co-promotional games between two bigger colleges, or they are home games for basketball teams. This helps in promoting the city and helps in bringing the non-gaming crowd in. Half the people in the world just don’t care about basketball.
It was a Sunday morning and I got the call that the lottery ticket for Saturday was gone. They put it on eBay and within 24 hours, sold it to a ticket broker. That’s how it is, a bit of luck, but mostly it’s just about learning how to play the game properly. I had no idea what to do with it either, until a friend of mine mentioned I was picking up a ticket from the library.
The library had a ticket from British Columbia Lotto that was $2,500,000 richer, had six numbers different than the winning ones, and was drawn during the evening news. Now I’m thinking about purchasing the ticket, the thought never leaving my mind. I decide against it, even though I have no problem with winning the lottery. You have to depend on luck, I say to myself, sharing a square in the lobby between partners, the same color or symbol, you name it.
On the way to the Subway, a Krispy Kreme Doughnut on a fluorescent yellow doughnut! I’m feeling lucky and romantic, like the movies, you know the ones with the gun in the background. Maybe the guys like you and I are developing a taste for doughnuts? It’s true, the Krispy Kreme doughnuts, which are Krispy Kreme don’t come out in thestores, they have to be delivered. And, for the gun reference, the robbers can either gun down the delivery person, or they can shoot the delivery person.
The signs on overnight Greyhoundetracks aren’t far behind the times, as people still stare out the windows at the race of a dog in a lengthy finish variation on the Aintree Grand National. The greyhounds can make a chore of it, that’s for sure.
